Lauriana Mae.

The only way to describe her music is refreshing and original.

Meet Atlantic’s Lauriana Mae. She’s a singer and she’s really good. Let me promise you she’s not your average; the girl’s got it. The way she’s able to maintain a confident balance of R&B, Soul and Hip-Hop has earned her numerous plays in my iTunes library. The vintage tone in her voice along with Kwame‘s refined production offers a perfect listening experience. I feel like she was supposed to be born decades earlier in a time when then music was more pure. Every time I hear her voice, I can only think of classic acts.  I’m listening to her latest record,  ”Suicide Bomb” right now!

When I first heard her music, I was sitting in the passenger seat looking like the guy from Maxell. I was literally blown away by what I was listening to. She easily separates herself from the pack. I didn’t expect the music to be as thorough and unique as it was but I later found out it was the Love Mae EP, and I wished some one would have warned me. The trumpets and drums on “Money Mae” smack you in the face while Lauriana strikes with much attitude. You feel like you’re at a live show! Then she had the nerve to serenade us with “Love”, which is my favorite. That’s one of those tracks that will help her stand the test of time and define her own sound. It takes pieces of the past while still sounding fresh. Properly so, she ends the EP with “Like A Drum”, a high-energy, sexy song that should only be played at high volumes.

Do yourself a favor and do some research on this girl.

THE NaivEP.

There’s a lot of music being made these days. It’s like somebody left a door open and people just started to literally pour into the music realm. Everyone from school janitors to state legislators has a mixtape or an EP that they’re getting ready to release. My mother is most likely dropping an album at the end of 2012.

This is actually one of the more thorough projects that I’ve come across. THE NaiveEP is a natural blend of soul, pop and rock melodies that will have you craving for a 6th track, but there’s only five. With a tone reminiscent of JT and a delivery similar to Adam Levine, the New Jersery native will have you wondering why you didn’t buy the EP off iTunes. The song that sold me was “Reminds Me of Home”, which sports an upbeat pop/rock beat that you sware you’ve heard on the radio. It’ll make you want to call your grandmother or something. I can’t stop listening to it and now I’m anticipating a full-length album from Tye.

The point of it all: this is an incredible project.

I’d rather let the music speak itself, go and download it yourself!
